How useless the media equipment is.
Our EdiRol had one battery, there was no input mic jack into our camera so we couldnt check the audio levels.
VoxPops do not work in Bradford. People do not want to be on camera, people do not want to be stopped in the snow on their way home to answer a one line question. And if they do choose to help us, their answers are closed no matter what we say to try help them along with lengthening their answers.

3. What action that anyone (teacher or student) took in class this week did you find most affirming and helpful? When we watched the clips of asking 50 people and one questions. it shows how they use different techniques of doing vox poxs. 4. What action that anyone (teacher or student) took in class this week did you find the most confusing puzzling?
5. What about the class this week surprised you the most? (This could be something about your own reactions to what went on, or something that someone did, or anything else that occurs to you.) I was in a group of three and we had a task to do which was to go outside and ask one question to 50 people. Which went really awful. People were just ignoring us and some of them don't like being on camera. I tried my best to talk to them but they were just so rude. which really annoyed me. Another thing the weather was really bad so no one wanted to be filmed at all. The equipment went all wrong. we couldn't sort out the tripod properly because it was tilting a lot. There was only one battery for the edirol so we couldnt do any sounds from it. Everything was just totally unorganized.

1. At what moment in the class this week did you feel most engaged with what was happening?
ReplyDeleteI really enjoyed learning about new ways in which I could film interviews and some techniques that work outside of the normal box. I think both the Royal Wedding and the Remembrance film gave me an insight into a new way of filming and a way in which it has a deeper meaning and makes the audience have to work more in understanding the meaning. I like this new approach and felt that it was very beneficial for me to learn about it.
I enjoyed going out and doing the task, I felt it helped in furthering my confidence in talking to the general public and asking them to take part in the shots. I also felt that it taught me the importance of having assigned roles in making films as it allows for a steadier and much easier shoot. I felt that I didn't do as well as I could as I should have made sure that I had helped through group as much as possible. I will do this next time.
I felt very engaged in the task and felt that it taught us many skills, even if we didn't create a successful piece I felt that I engage with the brief and that it will benefit me in future films I work on both technically and in how to organise shoots.
2. At what moment in the class this week did you feel most distanced from what was happening?
I felt most distanced in the class at the end as I felt that I wanted to at least attempt to edit the piece. As I felt this would give me more practise in an area in which I struggle.
I also felt disengaged when I went to central media, due to the time it took to take out equipment and how it meant that I lost filming and editing time. I also felt that I disengaged as the media technicians there were asking me questions about their cameras.
3. What action that anyone (teacher or student) took in class this week did you find most affirming and helpful?
I thought that it as helpful when Mark told our group that we needed roles and be creative with the backgrounds. I think that this helped as it gave more structure and I also found it useful when we worked as a team to bring people in to get shots and we kept persevering.
4. What action that anyone (teacher or student) took in class this week did you find the most confusing puzzling?
I found it most puzzling when I did something and another student told me off. I then asked how they would do it better. they replied that they would do the same. I felt that nothing confused or puzzled me about the lesson and I felt I understood everything that Mark was teaching us.
5. What about the class this week surprised you the most? (This could be something about your own reactions to what went on, or something that someone did, or anything else that occurs to you.)
I was most surprised by again the services of software and equipment and how they didn’t work properly, I was also surprised by how fast time went through the lesson, wish it had been longer.
