ReplyDeletePresenting our short film. It was a favourite of mine because of its style and hope to create films similar to that particular one.

Not distracted as such but found it hard to retrieve sounds that suited my film sequence. I didnt want to include sounds for the sake of it.

Someone helped me with my audio on the editing task, which i found confusing to do.

some people included sounds that were too abstract for the piece, which i didnt understand as to why they were included

how sounds in film are hard to do yet the ones we viewed didnt seem as challenging to do having edited some ourselves.

5. I didn't like the short film we watched at first, it seemed a little odd to begin with, the black & white effect seemed to be something that was used just so it could seem all arty, but as the film progressed I engaged with it more and overall, I liked it a lot

ReplyDeleteWhen I was using the sound clips to design a track for the video clip because I could just get on with it and experiment with the sounds.

When doing presentation as I don't like to present to people.

Watching through the clips after editing them and when we talked through the films presented in the morning.

The random sounds while editing.

How differently everyone edited the sound but it still sounded right for the most part and some were better than the originals. How much I learned from the presentations and quiz in the morning.

ReplyDeleteDuring this week's session I felt engaged with the short film showings in the morning which I enjoyed elaborating on the various screenings.

I did not feel distanced from any activity this week but did however feel that the sound editing task was challenging.

Mark was very helpful providing the sound reels for the editing task and he has given great information on the blog.

This week I did not feel that any event was confusing or puzzling, everything seem to run smooth.

This week I was surprised with all the great short films people had discovered and their description of all the films.
1. At what moment in the class this week did you feel most engaged with what was happening?
ReplyDeleteI felt that I engaged most in today's lesson when we were presenting the different short films and talking about the different cinematography, editing and sound techniques that were used in each of the films. I found it inspiring watching the other short films and gaining more knowledge on the ways that they were created.
2. At what moment in the class this week did you feel most distanced from what was happening?
I felt most distanced within the lesson when i made a mistake in the first lesson, as I felt I had let the others in the class down.
3. What action that anyone (teacher or student) took in class this week did you find most affirming and helpful?
I felt that the practical part of the afternoon lesson was really helpful and found that the constructive criticism given to me by the teacher helped me create a better sound design for the piece and helped me develop my skills.
4. What action that anyone (teacher or student) took in class this week did you find the most confusing puzzling?
I found the lesson most puzzling when I saw the other ways that the piece of footage had ben edited and I could see the strengths and weaknesses in both my work, my classmates and the film makers work. This helped me understand the importance of sound within film.
5. What about the class this week surprised you the most? (This could be something about your own reactions to what went on, or something that someone did, or anything else that occurs to you.)
I found it surprising seeing how the students versus the film makers pieces were so close standard wise. Particularly in the case of the film "Punch Drunk Love". I felt this was very surprising and I feel that it has helped me personally build confidence even further in editing.
