  1. 1. At what moment in the class this week did you feel most engaged with what was happening?

I found that I was most engaged in the class in the afternoon when we were learning about the techniques that are used by different film makers. I found this intriguing and it helped me learn more about editing techniques I think that this has helped me improve my knowledge in the area.

    2. At what moment in the class this week did you feel most distanced from what was happening?

I felt most distanced in the morning as i found it hard getting to grips with the first of the short films. I felt it was a good example but it wasn't my typical genre of film and felt distanced.

    3. What action that anyone (teacher or student) took in class this week did you find most affirming and helpful?

I found it helpful that Mark got all the clips for us so we could see the editing techniques being used.

    4. What action that anyone (teacher or student) took in class this week did you find the most confusing puzzling?

I found it perplexing when we couldn't get the tripods from anywhere so it meant we had to work freehand. I felt that this had made it harder to edit a flawless split screen.

    5. What about the class this week surprised you the most? (This could be something about your own reactions to what went on, or something that someone did, or anything else that occurs to you.)

I found it surprising the short films chosen this morning they were interesting and made me look at that kind of film making in a better light as I had previously not liked watching them kind of films.

I was surprised at the amount of different things that can be done with split screen.

Working in a group, mulling over ideas for shots.

    2. At what moment in the class this week did you feel most distanced from what was happening?

Just staring at all of the clips, took me a minute to snap into it.

    Constructive criticism from Mark.

Not sure, tbh. Think it all went pretty smooth, no surprises or curveballs.

When watching the clips and filming.

    2. At what moment in the class this week did you feel most distanced from what was happening?

While editing as I dislike editing.

Figuring out how to get the shots right.

  5. 1. At what moment in the class this week did you feel most engaged with what was happening?
most engaged when we were watching the editing techniques of del toro; inspiring work and gives me ideas.

    2. At what moment in the class this week did you feel most distanced from what was happening?
most distanced on the task as i wasn't very interested in what we had to do; dont quite like that technique and the environment in college is not ideal to be filming around,

    3. What action that anyone (teacher or student) took in class this week did you find most affirming and helpful?
was helpful when we shared the ideas and work load to edit/film, as it it hard to make ideas on your own at first.

    4. What action that anyone (teacher or student) too
k in class this week did you find the most confusing puzzling?
to think of ideas straight away, prethinking the filming to suit the techniques, so had to think counter angles, perspectives etc.

    5. What about the class this week surprised you the most? (This could be something about your own reactions to what went on, or something that someone did, or anything else that occurs to you.)
havent been surprised as much to be honest, dont understand the fascination with split screens, unless used in tarantino's work and graphic novel, brash films.

  6. 1. At what moment in the class this week did you feel most engaged with what was happening?
This week I enjoyed the study of Guillermo Del Toro and the analysis of his film styles, it was very helpful to see all the different use of shots.

    2. At what moment in the class this week did you feel most distanced from what was happening?
Elements of the end of the day were difficult to construct and although I enjoyed the task it did take some organising.

    3. What action that anyone (teacher or student) took in class this week did you find most affirming and helpful?
Mark was very helpful with the filming styles and he also provided alot of information to help inform us about the editing task.

    4. What action that anyone (teacher or student) took in class this week did you find the most confusing puzzling?
Filming split screen was challenging and it was unusual that we did not have access to tripods.

    5. What about the class this week surprised you the most? (This could be something about your own reactions to what went on, or something that someone did, or anything else that occurs to you.)
This week I was surprised by the use of split screen techniques by directors in film, the technique was really well used.

    - This question of the CIQ, if anything...Because I can't think of anything else!

    5. What about the class this week surprised you the most? (This could be something about your own reactions to what went on, or something that someone did, or anything else that occurs to you.)
    - Surprised at the ideas we came up with for the practical; was worried that I wouldn't have any for the second part! (Split-screen)
